About this Product
The ELECFREAKS Classroom Smart Pet Feeder Kit is an interactive STEM learning kit designed for primary and secondary school students to learn IoT (Internet of Things) automation, sensor logic, and physical computing. Built around the IOT:bit expansion board (featuring built-in ESP8266 Wi-Fi), the feeder operates through dual-sensor verification: first, an Octopus PIR motion sensor detects an approaching pet; second, a Sonar:bit ultrasonic sensor checks if the pet is within 20 cm. Once triggered, the system rotates a 180° servo motor to dispense pet food before returning to its default position. Sensor logs and feeding frequency can be monitored remotely via web IoT platforms (such as smartiot.space). The kit seamlessly integrates with the Smart Home Material Pack (wooden house model) and supports MakeCode graphical blocks, JavaScript, and Python.
